I know we haven't spoken in a while, but after reading article, "Women's genital self-esteem affects sex, health" in the Globe and Mail, I thought how now would be a good time to touch base.I've realized that they were right, on many occasions many of us have referred to you as down there and I'm sorry for not calling you by name. I see now that many women's judgements of you has been directly influenced by society and pop culture when we think of you as dirty. That sometimes as women we're generally our own worst critic emotionally and in this case, physically.
Why do we feel the need to give you a new hairdo? From a Brazilian wax to a landing strip, we feel like we need to dress you up so you're at your best. Who are we doing this for? And then at other times we forget about you...
Three social events in a row...
A birthday party, maybe a wedding and a social event. Red wine three nights in a row and already we're disrupting the digestive flora in our systems...because that's where it all starts...the big bad ass "C". Yes, it's Candida and it thrives down there and walking in a crunch we want some relief and realize, we need to bring ourselves back into balance.
I want some sugar in my bowl.
Sometimes we'll resort to dirty chocolate like Twix or Turtles. However when we indulge too much, suddenly there it is again, the Big C...and it's thriving down there and once again, we walk in a crunch. Shit, shit, shit...the big bad C is back.
So how do we disregard you and not listen to what you're trying to tell us? Maybe we should increase our sexy greens and drink more lemon water to alkalize our acidic selves (which the big C thrives on). We should down shots of E3 Live in coconut water and vanilla extract which with an existing regimen will help say adieu to the big C. Coconut is a natural source of caprylic acid which is an anti big C fighter...plus it tastes good. What more could you ask for? Okay, maybe we could eliminate or at least cut down on the dirty stuff: alcohol, refined sugars, dairy and wheat so that you don't feel so disrupted and irritated. Maybe emotionally we need to see the power and beauty that you truly have and know that you deserve so much more.
Then we can stop giving you the alias of down there and not be so ashamed and call you by your real name.
Vagina.
